Keep in mind doing a research paper is a step by step process and it would be beneficial to break this task up into manageable components. The following task analysis is a suggestion and can be modified to meet your needs. This information is a suggestion on the process of choosing a thesis. After you select a topic look at the following format to help you make your own chart to complete the research paper in a timely and productive manner.
RESEARCH PROCESS
A.Subject-assigned or chosen?
B. Decisions-
-Is the paper a report which gives information-WHO? WHAT? WHY? HOW?
OR
-an evaluation which presents information, analyzes the information and interprets related to a theory (thesis)
-other decisions include:
know the purpose of the paper-explanation (why), analysis, argument (what you should do)
-know your audience, so you know how to write the paper
-REQUIREMENTS of the paper

E. As you being the research you will move from subject to topic asking yourself these questions
